The Scottish Press Photographers Association (SPPA) was founded in 2006 to promote and raise awareness of the profession within Scotland. The membership is made up of press and editorial photographers from national, regional and local newspapers, magazines and agencies.

What do we offer? As well as helping to promote the profession in Scotland, we offer member galleries, a useful Find A Freelance Guide for prospective clients, competitions as well as a range of member discounts and benefits, not forgetting the occasional social outing. We also have a discussion forum that offers help on various aspects of the industry.

How can I join? All membership applications must be approved, by personal recommendation or proof of press/photojournalism employment. Full Members should be full time press photographers working in Scotland whether it be newspaper, magazine, agency, staff or freelance (freelance must prove 60% of their income from Press Photography). We also have associate membership for part time photographers, picture desk staff and photography students. To join up, contact us with your details.
