About the Scottish Press Photographers Association

The SPPA aims...

To promote a high standard of professionalism and good working practice within the Scottish Press Photographer community.


To liaise with and establish a working partnership with public and private bodies for the advancement of a clearer, fairer and professional working relationship between press photographers and relevant organisations.

To allow and encourage the sharing of experiences and expertise within the Scottish Press Photographer community as well as developing a shared sense of focus.

To educate and inform the wider community whether it is within the media industry or the public arena to enhance the awareness and appreciation of Scottish Press Photography.

To offer an internet based discussion and voting forum for the entire Photographic press community of Scotland whose main source of income is through editorial, magazine, public relations, freelance and corporate photography. 

To provide a support network for new, part-time and student press photographers through offering advice, educational opportunities as well as facilitating a code of practice with regards to a professional approach to working within the media industry. 

To create a strong and positive association which will cater to the needs of its members through communication, support and individual expertise.
